Who
is behind the virtual lunchtime and when did the idea
originate?
The
virtual lunchtime is the brainchild of Mark Herbert,
founder and Managing Director of intY Ltd. IntY are
a Bristol based technology company providing Internet
and email management solutions - aimed mainly at the
small business market.
What will happen to the virtual lunchtime petition?
The
campaign aims to reach a total of 100,000 "online
signatures". The petition will then be collated
and used to demonstrate the need for change among the
British working populace by two methods.
(a)
Figures purporting to the success of the campaign will
be used to publicise the campaign in the national media;
thereby ensuring more and more support for the virtual
lunchtime concept.
(b)
Gone2Lunch.com will use its mandate to seek an intensive
round of meetings with trade and industry bodies representing
industries large and small - and aims to involve the
applicable bodies in a public debate.
If I decide to take a virtual lunchtime, how can
I convince my boss?
Take
them to this site! The worse they can do is say no.
Why not gather your colleagues together and go discuss
the idea with a superior? The virtual lunchtime is not
merely intended to benefit the average worker - it can
help bosses keep a positive, productive working environment.
Why do you care what happens to the British workforce?
We
believe that the UK citizen has a hard enough time as
it is - especially when compared to his European neighbour
at work. All we are asking for is a little equality.
Nobody deserves to be hassled and harassed - this is
the sensible way forward for employers and employees
alike.
Will the virtual lunchtime ever become a reality?
We
hope so! We truly believe that the virtual lunchtime
is a winning idea that carries a great deal of common
sense. With your support there is no reason why this
idea should not become a reality.
What can I do during my virtual lunchtime?
Every
day, Gone2Lunch.com will publish a new suggestion to
while away your hour online, during your virtual lunchtime.
It might be online games, quizzes, news, interest sites
or just plain old oddities. You'll have to drop in to
find out !!
